A friend of mine once said that her dog was 99% perfect. The one percent that wasn’t perfect though, was what made her dog so great. That one percent in all our pets is often what we remember most fondly.

Capturing the spirit of your animal companion through a soulful backwards glance , the swish of a tail, or some other small but telling gesture is my goal – whether he or she be canine, feline, equine, avian (or you name it!)

Commissioning a painting of the animals who are with you now is a great way to celebrate the joy they bring to your life. A portrait to commemorate one you have lost is a testament to the bond that lasts beyond the boundaries of time and space. Portraits and paintings of animals also make wonderful and unexpected gifts for the animal lovers in your life.

Don’t know where to start? Feel free to explore! Check out my portfolios. My blog features new work, not all of which winds up in the portfolios, announcements, book reviews, and other miscellany of interest.

Ready to take the plunge? Please read the Commissions page about how the process works and pick up some great photography tips to boot. Still on the fence? Maybe you’d like to peruse giclee prints available through Fine Art America.

And of course, if you have any questions about commissioning a painting of your pet, my artwork, or anything else on this site, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

To your animal companions and the bond you share!

“I love the portraits Beth did of my dogs, Moxie and
Abby. She made the whole process easy by coming to my home and getting some
great photos of both my dogs. Abby is a special challenge to capture on film since
her fur is black.
Beth kept in touch throughout the process and even
selected the frames that suited both the paintings and my interior perfectly. I
was so happy when I saw my paintings I cried.”

“Beth has done two pastels for me, my dogs Frankie and Sadie.  Not only did she do an amazing job of depicting their likenesses, she also portrayed their personalities and spirit.  Frankie was a handsome and loving shepherd mix and she captured the sweet soulful look in his eyes perfectly.  I smile everytime I look at it.  Little Sadie is a firecracker of a terrier mix. Beth portrayed both Sadie’s cute little face as well as the sparkle in her eye and her playful personality.  I love both my portraits.”
